(Eagle – Teaching Extension and Academic Mentoring)
OBJECTIVES AND PROCEDURES
Objectives:
· Provide opportunity for extended learning (ie. tutorial, make-up work).
· Implement targeted academic skills tutoring.
· Raise student GPA and achieve success in Common Assessment, CAHSEE and CST.
· Mentor students on academic planning and or assist students on college/career planning.
· Engage and connect students with before, during and after school programs.
Program Implementation
· Open to 9th and 10th grade students identified and recommended by teachers needing academic support and intervention.
· Two hours per week/one hour per day after school.
· Tutorial by core subjects, ie, English teachers tutoring English, math teachers tutoring math.
· Ratio of 1 teacher and one trained tutor per 15-20 students.
· No lecture, no lesson. Only individual tutoring. Teachers and trained tutors to assist students with assignments, projects, test preparations and homework.
· Full semester commitment and attendance is mandatory. In addition, student must maintain a weekly assignment planner.
· TBA tutorial days – Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday. Possible make up days on Saturdays.
· Pre-arranged guest speakers on selected tutorial days and pre-arranged college visit days.

What is E-TEAM?
E-TEAM is a tutorial program available to motivated 9th and 10th grade students willing to improve their GPA (grade point average). E-TEAM is a tutorial or academic intervention program made possible by a grant from AT&T. Orange Glen pioneered the program and is currently implementing the program. We are sharing the grant with them.
How do I sign up?
Students will be identified and recommended by teachers and counselors. However, approach your teacher or counselor if you feel you need assistance in any of your core subjects. You must sign a contract prior to enrollment. Ask the counseling office or you may download the enrollment/registration form from this site. Look at the current E-Team tutorial schedule, report to that teacher and turn in your form to that teacher.
How often does it meet?
E-TEAM meets twice a week, one hour per day after school. You will find the E-TEAM schedule at the counseling office. You will also find the current schedule on this site.
Do I earn credits or grades in this program?
No, your tutorial teacher will not grade nor give you credit. The program is to help you increase or improve your grade in the core subject you need help. However, your tutorial teacher must take mandatory attendance check.
What happens if I miss a session?
You will be allowed to make up a session in a variety of ways such as Saturday school, college visits or lunch make up. Such arrangements vary with tutorial teacher. If you choose not to make up a session, you will be assigned mandatory detention.
When can I quit the program?
Once you have reached your academic grade goal for the semester, you and your parent may request to stop attendance. But the program is still available for you as an option.
Aside from tutorial and helping to raise my GPA (grade point average), what else can E-TEAM do for me?
E-TEAM will assist you in college preparation and career awareness. There will be scheduled guest speakers and college visits. In addition, E-TEAM will assist you qualify academically in athletic programs. We will also connect you to other after-school enhancement and extra-curricular programs.
