The Academic Awards program at SP recognized students who are achieving academic excellence. The Academic Awards Honor Roll is based on students' grade point averages (GPA) for all classes taken during the semester. GPA levels of 3.0 or higher, 3.5 or higher, and 4.0 or higher determine awards categories. Certificates, academic pins, academic letters and 4.0 pins are some of the awards given. Awards for perfect attendance are also given.
The Academic Awards program recognizes "Students on the Month" in 17 subject areas. All outstanding students receive a custom designed T-shirt, certificate, and are recognized at a luncheon in their honor. Their pictures are displayed in the "Wall of Fame" showcase. A committee of staff, parents, and students meet to determine the awards and to seek funds for the awards.
We have two awards to recognize student they are: achievement award and academic eagle award. Faculty and staff nominate students who shine aa exemplar eagles. Two students who from each grade will be honored as shining eagles and Two students who from each grade will be honored as academic eagles per semester.
Characteristics of a shining eagle:
- industrious students
- outstanding effort
- involved in school activities
- good character
- polite, positive and helpful to others
Characteristics of an Academic Eagle:
- Excels academically with a 3.5 or higher g.p.a.
- Service to school and community
- Good character
- Polite, positive and helpful to others
The Department Chair Council will select the students to receive the awards from the list of nominees. Those selected will be honored by an awards luncheon with the principal and their parents.
In addition, certificates are awarded to students for attaining the following levels of academic achievement:
- Principal's Honor Roll (4.0 or higher GPA)
- Assistant Principal's Honor Roll (3.5 or higher GPA)
- Golden Eagle Honor Roll (3.0 or higher GPA)
This is a group of the highest achieving students in the graduating class. The students in the Valedictory Circle shall be the top 2.5% of the total number in the senior class who have the highest GPA. (This number will be determined at the end of the junior year.) In the case of GPA ties, all students with the same GPA will be included.

Perfect Attendance - All students in Grade 12 with perfect attendance for four (4) school years. (No absences of any kind except school related).
Principal's "Above Self" Student Award - A student in Grade 12 who has performed exemplary service to the school and community.
Community Service Award - A student from Grade 12 who has demonstrated a pattern of involvement in and service to the community during 4 years of high school.
Outstanding Citizenship Award - A student from Grade 12 who has demonstrated outstanding citizenship in all classes during the academic year.
Assistant Principal's "Most Improved" Student Award - A student from Grade 12 who has demonstrated improvement in academics or social/behavior skills.
School Service Award - A student from Grade 12 who has made an outstanding contribution to school.
